Influencing Others In Business Environments Essay -- essays research p

Influencing Others in Business EnvironmentsThroughout human civilization, the art of selling ideas or products hasbeen a cornerstone of society. Some people have live masters at this art, yielding themselves and their companies large amounts of profit. Why is it thatsome people are better at this than others? This paper will take a intuitive feeling at thevarious aspects of nonverbal communication in selling (or influencing others tobuy) and in job interviews by examining in detail the various aspects ofproximics, haptics, physical attractiveness, and other nonverbal cues that ascertain people to say yes.Artifacts and local environment     Several studies have presented evidence in support of the theory that"dressing for success" affects ones ability to influence other people. Onestudy found that people dressed in suits versus people dressed in casual orworking-class clothes rattling affects a subjects likelihood of answering aquestion correctly. In thi s study, a person dressed in a suit had a 77% per centumchance of getting money returned to them, while those dressed casually or inworking outfits had a 38% chance (Bickman, 1971). This study suggests that apersons spatial relation affects how well they are received by the person they are tryingto influence, and thus their likelihood of being able to influence them intobuying an idea or product.     Seating arrangements can affect ones ability to influence others.Seating arrangements that are closer to one another have a greater effect and strain to a less hostile environment than when people are seated opposite of oneanother (Sommer, 1967). Sommer found that when a relationship is of a free-enterprise(a) nature (i.e. bargaining situations such as labor contractagreements) there is a preference for this style of seating because it "reflectsa desire to obtain training about ones competitor." Another study suggestedround tables help to "increase inf ormality and feelings of closeness incomparision to square or rectangular tables" (Sommer, 1965). Dawson (1986)suggested having the members of the negotiation dispersed, that is, haveintermixing the oppose members together helps smooth over negotiations.     Placing artifacts in the negotiating environment can have affects on thenegotiation. A flower, vas... ...a presentation. Various studieshave shown that a person becomes more volition to "sign petitions or completequestionnaires, to assist with scoring inventories, and to help an interviewerpick up dropped questionnaires" (Crusco, 1984). Hence, the shaking of hands atthe beginning of a job concourse to facilitate good will and cooperation(Dawson, 1986).Conclusion     The role of nonverbal communication within business meetings should notbe over-rated. Nonverbal behavior does play a role and can help with success innegotiations, but is not the be all, end all to negotiating successfully. However, being aware of violating someones personal zone or knowing when to bequiet is as important as knowing what to say. In general, more successfulpersuaders were found to be smiling, nodding, and gesturing at appropiatemoments during a business meeting or job interview (Edinger, 1983). What isimportant to remember is to know when to use these various cues to youradvantage, and to know not to overuse them. Specific research in this field wasdifficult to find, and more research is needed before greater and more detailedconclusions can be drawn.

Comparing Social Commentary in Dover Beach, Second Coming, and Church Going :: compare and contrast essay examples

Comparing Social Commentary in Dover Beach, Second Coming, and perform Going Human society has always struggled with the conflict of faith versus technology. religion has always been a symbol of order, and increasing technology has always been the scapegoat for mere anarchy. When faith ebbs, technology or new scientific concepts are blamed. technology is a convenient target because when people lose faith in the church, science is a hard-based, factual thing in which to believe. The increasing chaos in society can be blamed on the decreasing faith in religion that has been shifted to technology. After the fall of the Roman Empire, European society was in chaos. Since no other civilizing force in which to believe was in existence, when the Roman Catholic Church made itself a organizing power, it set up a condition that attached itself to the mind set for the next few centuries. Religious beliefs are synonymous with the calm and the peace that relieve lifes turmoil. For a long peri od of time, in that location was no other steadying force, so the Sea of Faith was the sole source for easing the turbid ebb and flow of human misery. Tradition has unplowed this view of religion popular. Still, religion itself cannot hold the attention of human society forever. Eventually, as displayed in Dover Beach, faith in religion and its structure forget fade in the light of new ideas and new human inventions. Societys faith cannot always be full because as civilizations grow individuals become more independent. They draw to think for themselves, which causes life to become more subjective. With less imposed structure, individuals will determine that they do not subscribe to all of what their predecessors believed, and they are left inquire what to look for. Technology often replaces religion because it is far more tangible than the concepts of organized religion that require blind faith. It is easier to believe in something touchable. In Church Going, this attitude is e xamined. A wistfulness for a time when faith came easier is apparent, but there is also an awkward reverence for the ways of religion even if they are no longer believed. Once people place their faith in technology rather that something spiritual, they will find that while technology is concrete, it does not provide steering for social behavior or the human spirit as most religions do. In The Second Coming the world is spinning out of control.

Review of Research Paper on the Interphase of Mitosis -- Biology Eukar

IntroductionThe eukaryotic cellular phone cycle, mitosis, is a succession of events that occur for the counter and growth of these multi-cellular organisms. Characteristic events in mitosis can divide the cell cycle into different stages, or phases. This paper focuses on the interphase of cell cycle, which is when DNA replication occurs, and the cell is engaged in metabolic activities to prepare itself for cell division. The idea that these two processes are related arises much controversy in what their relation is exactly. A a few(prenominal) theories propose that the cell cycle dictates DNA replication, whereas others support that DNA replication dictates the cell cycle. However, more research on yeast cells have determined that round(a) unknown mechanisms link these two processes together. The experiment did not find conclusive evidence that either one of the processes controls the action of the other. transfigurationA major fantasy displayed throughout our scientific paper i s the metabolic cycle, more specifically, how yeast goes through metabolism. To better understand the metabolic cycle of yeast, a general overview of metabolism is needed. metabolic process is a blanket term covering all of the chemical reactions that occur in living cells. These processes are the basis of sustenance, allowing cells to grow, reproduce, maintain their structures, and respond outwardly towards their environments. Metabolism is usually divided into two categories catabolism and anabolism. Anabolism uses energy to build different components of cells such as proteins and nucleic acids. Catabolism, on the other hand, is the process that yields energy, one slip of that is the breakdown of food in cellular respiration. In the reductive charging phase, you see the number of cells in G2 decrease as they enter Mitosis and become part of the G1 population as they half their DNA.Cell Cycle ConnectionIn this experiment they used nutrient-poor conditions, in which the yeast cells acted as one unit. This means that the cells underwent replication simultaneously. Normally under nutrient-rich conditions, the cell cycles are random. By taking away the nutrients, the cells had to organize to utilize the nutrients available to sustain life most efficiently. Technically the cells divide up into two groups, where one is replicating while the other is not.SourcesView the Paper Online http//www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/full/316/5833/1916/

Intelligence led policing Essay

The nemesisist attacks of September 2001 had several governments taken aback of their incapacity to obtain and prevent abuses of such magnitude. The United States Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Defense, for example, have been working extra hard to detect and sweep such mishaps now and in the future. In order to realize this, most aspects of national security have been reviewed by various governments around the world (Wisler and Onwudiwe, 2009). unitary of these aspects is intelligence operation improvement and use for both internal and international security. Of most importance is internal security, given the fact that crimes such as international terror are planned and carried forth by deterrents that are already living among us. Because the police have the mandate to provide internal security, they require effective intelligence to enable them to collect and act on any info cerebrate to looming attacks and dangers. Apart from intelligence led policing , there are numerous other(a) types of policing. However, the chief(prenominal) ones are knowledge-based policing, problem based policing and community policing. For any crime type to be bunged, the intelligence used by police ought to be based on all possibly available information and data, collected and thoroughly evaluated. Intelligence has been defined in multiple ways. For the sake of this discussion, we will settle on a single definition it is collecting data and information precisely touching on crime, analyzing and drawing conclusions on it.Therefore, intelligence is not any kind of information but that which has been studied and quality conclusions made on it. Intelligence can then be used to inform any concerned decision shaper of the several available choices. The security personnel of any department, either the police or the military, can then draw on the analyzed findings to carry out their duties of preventing and stopping crimes by strategizing and laying good plans on how to achieve their set objectives.Intelligence led policing is a structured method of collecting, analyzing and evaluating data and information related to crime. The analyzed information is then used to guide the institutions which enforce law in determining their effects. It was first used in the United Kingdom in 1990 and later received a huge acceptance in the United States after the 2001 terrorist attacks. The Kent police in the UK used this kind of policing on car stealing, theatre breaks and certain types of crimes which were then considered high priority. The worlds governments later decided to use this method alongside others to curb international crime especially terrorism and to react effectively to simpler crimes at the domestic front (Wisler and Onwudiwe, 2009). The problem based policing is broad in its coverage bearing its stand on the notion that other types of policing are not committed to solving the basic criminal acts. While it concentrates on crimes that n eed the attention of the police and that it handles other issues other than implementing crime stripe programs, is not able to cover all sorts of crimes. On the other hand Public policing usually focus on a single type of crime for example street gangs only. It is normally used when certain crimes occur and their area of operation is the streets. It is also effective in the sense that the time, when the required information is obtained and when action is taken on it, is relatively short. Its mainstay is to deter and disable unlawful trends. Criminals are also profiled to help in analysis. Finally, its approach involves the use of tour of affair personnel, strategic divisions and detectives.

Nature-Nurture Debate Essay

IntroductionIn this report I will examine and explain effective communication by looking at the role of effective communication and kind interaction in health and well-disposed c be context, theories of communication, methods of communication (verbal, non-verbal and written communication), communication cycle, what is effective communication, formal and wanton communication, differences between talking to and culture. confabulation between wad enables us to exchange ideas and information, but it involves much more than simply passing on information to gelids. Communication helps muckle to see safe, to form relationships and develop self-esteem. Poor communication atomic number 50 make an individual touch sensation vulnerable, inferior and emotionally threatened.Effective communication helps us understand a person or situation, enables us to resolve differences, build trust and repute and create an warm environment. The effective communication helps us ameliorate commu nication skills in everyday live, business, relationships, but also in health and social c ar context. Learning and sagaciousness the effective communication skills the people provide better connect with the family members, friends, co-workers (by improving teamwork), people looked after in care homes. What is effective communication Effective communication combines a set of skills including verbal and non-verbal communication, intent listening, the ability to manage stress, the capacity to recognize and understand your own emotions and those of the person you are communicating with .Effective communication is about more than exchanging information. It requires also soul the emotion behind the information. It enables us to communicate even negative or difficult messages without creating conflict or destroying trust.Effective communication-Methods of communicationVerbal communicationThe root word of communication is the interaction between people. Verbal communication is the mai n dash for people to communicate face to face. The components of the verbal communication are sounds, words, speaking and language. wholly people can put meaning into words words alone urinate no meaning. As meaning is an assigned to words, language develops, which leads to the development of speaking. oer 3000 languages and major dialects are spoken in the world. The huge variety of languages creates difficulties between distinguishable languages, but even in one language there can be many problems in understanding. Speaking can be looked in two major areas interpersonal and public speaking. To communicate effectively we must non simply clean up our language, but learn to relate to people. To be an effective communicator, one must speak in a manner that is not offending to the receiver.ListeningSuccessful listening means not just understanding the words or the information being communicated, but also understanding how the speaker feels about what they are communicating. Effect ive listening can -create an environment where everyone feels safe -save time -relieve negative emotions -focus fully on the speaker, make the speaker feel heard and tacit -avoid interrupting -show you interest. The communication cycle According to Michael Argyle(1972) skilled interpersonal interaction (social skills) involves a cycle in which you hurt to translate or decipher what other people are communicating and constantly adapt you own doings in set up to communicate effectively.Good communication involves the process of checking understanding, utilise reflective or active listening. The communication cycle supposes -an idea occurs you have an idea that you want to communicate -message coded you think through how you are going to swan what you are thinking and you put your thoughts in to language or sign language -message sent you speak, or sign, or write, or send your message in some other way -message received the other person has to sense your message -message decoded t he other person has to interpret or decode your message -message understood your ideas will be understood if all goes rise up.Non-verbal communication Non-verbal means without words, so non-verbal communication refers to the messages that we send without using words. We send these messages using our eyes, the tone of our voice, our seventh cranial nerve bearing, our hands and arms, the way we sit or stand. We can enhance effective communication by using promiscuous body language (arms uncrossed, standing with an open stance, maintaining eye contact with the person you are talking to). When we speak about non-verbal communication we actually mean -posture -the way we move -facing other people -gestures -facial expression -touch -silence -voice tone -proximity -reflective listening. As well as remembering what a person says, good listeners will make sure that their non-verbal behaviour shows interest.Skilled listening involves -looking provoke and communicating that you are ready to listen -hearing what it is said to you -remembering what was said to you, together with non-verbal messages -checking your understanding with the person who was speaking to you. Written communication When people remember conversations they have had, they will probably miss out or change some details. Written statements are much more permanent and if they are accurate when they are written, they may be useful later on. Written records are essential for communicating formal information that needs to be reviewed at a afterlife date. For the people who cannot see written scripts or who have limited vision there is a communication system known as Braille which uses raised(a) marks that can be felt with the fingers and its based on the sense of touch. This system is now widely used for reading and writing by the people who cannot see written script. Theories of communication The verbal and non-verbal communication is not always straightforward. Effective communication involves a two- way process in which to each one person tries to understand the view point of the other person. According to Michael Argyle (1972) interpersonal communication is a skill that could be learned and developed. Skilled interpersonal communication, interaction(social skills) involve a cycle in which you have to translate or decode what people are communicating and constantly adapt your own behaviour in order to communicate effectively. The communication cycle involves a kind of code that has to be translated. The stages of communication cycle might be 1. An idea occurs. 2. gist coded. 3. Message sent. 4. Message received. 5. Message decoded. 6. Message understood. Tuckman s stages of group interaction Bruce Wayne Tuckman(1965) argued that communication in groups can be influenced by the degree to which people feel they belong together. Tuckman suggested that most groups go through a process involving four stages 1. Forming refers to people meeting for the first time and sharing informat ion. 2. Storming involves tension, struggle and arguments about the way the group may function. 3. Norming sees the group coming together and agreeing on their group values. 4. Performing means that the group will be an effectively performing group, formerly they have established common expectations and values.Formal and informal communication in health and social care Health and social care work a great deal involves formal communication, which is understood by a wide range of people and shows respect for others. Usually care workers will adjust the way they speak, in order to communicate respect for different communities they address to, as the service users, visitors, colleagues. Formal communication is used in local authority social run and supposes decent English. It also shows respect for others (e.g. if one went to a local authority social services reception desk, that person will expect to be greeted in a formal way like Hello How can I help you?, and not informally, lik e Hi Hows it going? In many situations such informal language could make people feel not being respected so it is often risky to use informal language unless you are sure that people expect you to do so. The formal communication is also used in social care services with the manager and even between colleagues if they dont know very well each other. Otherwise, when they know each other better, they will use informal language. Communication with people at work (between colleagues) is different, because care workers must communicate respect for each other. Colleagues, who do not show respect for each other, may fail to show respect for people who use care services. Colleagues have to develop trust in each other. It is important to demonstrate respect for confidentiality of conversation with colleagues. Care settings may have their own social expectations about the correct way to communicate thoughts and feelings.Communication between professional people and people using services involv es the professionals being well aware of the need to translate technical language in to everyday language, when they work with people from other professions or people who use services. Professional people such as doctors or nurses often use their own specialised language, called jargon. It is important that people check that they are being understood correctly. Differences between language and culture Language There are many minority languages in the world. Some people grow up in multilingual communities, where they learn several(prenominal) languages from birth. Many people have grown up using only one language to think and communicate.People who learn a second language later in life find more difficult to express their thoughts and feelings in that language, and prefer to use their first language. Working with later languages can be difficult, as mental translation may be required. Different localities, ethnic groups, professions and work cultures have their own special words or p hrases known as speech communities. Some people might feel threatened or excluded by that kind of language they encounter in these speech communities. The technical spoken communication used by care workers (called jargon) can also create barriers for people who are not a part of that speech community. When people who use services communicate with professionals there is always a risk of misunderstanding between people from different language communities, therefore the health and social care provide needs to check their understanding with the people communicating with them. Culture means the history, customs and ways of behaving that people learn as they grow up. People from different regions use different expressions. Also non-verbal signs may vary from culture to culture. In Europe and North America people often expect other people to look them in the eyes when talking. If a person looks down or away they think it is a sign of dishonesty, sadness or depression. On the other hand, i n some other cultures (some black communities or Muslim communities) looking down or away when talking is a sign of respect. (E.g. in social care settings a Hindu or Muslim person will not accept to be looked after by a person of the opposite sex). People from different geographical areas who use different words and pronounce words differently, they are often using a different dialect. Some social groups use slang (non standard words that are understood by other members of a social group or community, but which cannot be usually found in a dictionary).BTEC Level 3-Health and Social Care-Book 1-Beryl Stretch/Mary Whitehouse www.helpguide.org/effectivecommunicationhttp//louisville.edu

Outline and Evaluate One Theory of the Formation of Romantic Relationships (4+8 Marks) Essay

The settle with/ need satisfaction theory (RNS) was devised by Byron & Clore (1970) to explain the formation of romantic relationships, found on the principles of behavioral psychology. According to the theory, people form relationships with those who are most rewarding/ satisfying to be with which happens through instruct. The elements of Skinners operant conditioning proposes that we repeat behaviors with positive outcomes (rewards) and avoid those with negative outcomes (punishments). Relationships positively reinforce by our partner satisfying our needs/rewarding us (through love or attention), scarce negative reinforcement also plays a part in the likelihood of formation as a relationship avoid us feeling solitary which both result in us seeking further contact with them thus forming a relationship. The theory also suggests that we may associate a person with positive feelings due to the even in which they meet this is called classical conditioning. This form of conditionin g involves pairing a neutral stimulus with an unconditioned stimulus to get to a conditioned response, for example being at a party (NS) and feeling happy (UCR), then meeting a person (UCS) and associating this stimuli (now CS)with the happy feelings to take a leak a CR of happiness whenever in their presence and we want to be with the person that makes us most happy, thus forming a relationship. An issue raised surround the RNS theory is that it fails to consider free will. It suggests that without rewards a relationship will not form however evidence from modern relationships argues otherwise, for example a rewards and satisfaction is give in one night stands, yet no relationship is formed, plus no association can be made through cyber relationships because the couple progress to not met, yet a relationship still manages to form. This evidence goes against the theory suggesting that other factors such as similarity, opportunity and our own choices play a situation in relations hip formation thus proposing the theory is deterministic as well as simplistic. On the contrary, research evidence has supported the RNS, one learn conducted by Aron et al (2005). To begin the audition, participants answered a questionnaire rating how intensely in love they were then they were shown photos of their partner during an MRI scan. It was found that dophamine-richareas of the brain (area associated with rewards) had higher exertion when shown their partner than when shown an image of their friend. These findings show that we form relationships with those who are rewarding.High temporal validity is a strength to this study because it was conducted recently. This means the couples used in the experiment have a higher ability to ponder modern day relationships therefore the findings are more generalisable to modern relationships. Along with that the study is strong physical, data-based evidence because of the use of MRI scans. Brain scans produce reliable, physical, soli d evidence therefore have scientific proof for the link between relationships and rewards. The importance of reward level in determining relationship satisfaction was also demonstrated by Carte et al (1982) in which he asked 337 participants to asses their current relationship in terms of reward level and satisfaction and found that reward level was superior to all other factors in determining relationship satisfaction lowest that rewards are a greater factor than any when it comes to relationship formation. However a criticism of these findings is that the reward/need satisfaction theory only explores the receiving of rewards, whereas hay (1985) found that we gain satisfaction from giving as well as receiving. Most of the research into RNS theory has been conducted in the US with US participants, making it gruelling to generalize to different cultures. The theory, as well as the research, has an ethnocentric bias in the fact that it is based on relationships in western cultures, th erefore reflect relationships of western societies, but these are very different to other cultures were people may not get a choice in their partner e.g. staged marriages. Lott (1994) found that women in other cultures focused more on the needs of others than rewards, suggesting that there are differences in the value of rewards which this theory emphasizes so much about. As a result of this cultural bias, the RNS theory is not a universal explanation of relationship formation.

Praise Song for my Mother by Grace Nichols Essay

The poem, as the name suggests is a song where the poet is rejoicing her relationship with her mother by making use of simple but powerful imagery. It is important to note that unlike the commemorative poems that ar usually written by Western writers, kudos for My Mother does not have a requiem like elegiac mood. The overall tone of the poem is pleasant. appraise Song is a panegyric on the writers mother. in which she celebrates a woman who gave her both roots to grow from and wings to fly with. Writing about her own mother, Nichols once commented that she was a warm, intelligent, loving woman who was full of stories, anecdotes and songs from her own childhood. People loved being around her and I cant remember a single mean solar day when our home wasnt visited by some friend, neighbour or relative who had dropped in just fuh sic minute but ended up staying hours. Starting with the vocabulary, it is smart as a whip but hard-hitting. The writer uses the images of water, moon and sun- all powerful symbols of nature, to describe her mothers character which shows her strength of personality and the extent of her love and affection towards her.The flu barf colour of the fishs gills is reminiscent of the maternal love a break from the clichi d usage of the colour red in standard position literature where the colour is usually associated with sensuality. Talking about the lyrical style, a look at the formative years of Grace Nichols in Guyana may shed some light on her writing and choice of subject. She was born into a world of books and music. Her father was a head teacher and at home she was environ by books she was fascinated by the kingdom of books and language. Her mother utilise to give piano lessons. The first 8 years of her life that she spent in a village left an imprint on her that shows in the poem as well the rhythm of music and the beat of pan, the call of the fisherman and the fruit vendor, the aroma of mud and salt when she went crab hunting (the crabs leg), the whole of the morning sky, the whole of the evening sky, (sunrise and moons shopping center). The poem is also clamant, replenishing replenishing. The poet may have opted for this because it brings a sense of childhood as a young child would repeat words.Nichols wants to use this effect because the repetitive content relates to a childs attitude, which will then recall the memories Nichols had of her mother when she was a child. Food is a very important part of Caribbean socialization and tradition. The home-cooked food is something that does not have any alternative. The writers memory of her mother is not complete without thinking about or mentioning the food she used to cook. This intensifies the sacrifice that the writers mother had to make for her daughters brighter, Wide futures. As Nichols once pointed out, Like a beacon in London, both now and then I get this craving for my mothers food. I leave art galleries in search of plantains, salt fish, sweet po tatoes I need this link, I need this touch of home, swinging my bag like a beacon against the cold. Praise song for my mother Fat Black fair sex Tropical Death Grace Nichols puts the image across that the issue of culture is extremely important to her. Through her poems we understand that she is confused of her identity. When she moved to London she matt-up as though she was living in an alien world.Grace Nichols was longing for a cultural identity in Britain and she tends to describe Britain negatively and the Caribbean positively. This is why throughout the poems she applies her own dialect of Creole, which is the official dialect of the Caribbean. She also uses Creole because she feels as though she should preserve it. She maintains that her Caribbean language is genuinely exciting and that Creoles aspects are very vivid which concludes her to believe that there is no equivalent in the English language.Nichols has successfully carved a niche for her culture and poetry in the e xisting canon of complex poets and poetry by writing in a laymens register. This is a poetry that everyone can understand and read. This is a poetry that everyone can identify with. This is the poetry the Nichols has written for her countrymen, for her mother, for her roots- it is a tribute to her roots back at home. We get a clear sense of this in Praise Song for My Mother, in which she talks of a mother who is deep and bold and fathoming and who replenishes her whenever she needs comfort.

Audit Firm Culture

A companys culture has a large impact on the ethical behavior of employees and an employees ethical behavior plays an authoritative role In the bump of the size up. Now, there are several factors that affect the flavor of an audit but the one that allow be focused on In this paper Is the effect the audit firm culture has on the audit prize.Audit firm culture effects so many different things at a firm Including the kind of behavior that Is rewarded and determining how Important ethics are In the body of work. The audit firm culture has the largest Impact on the persona of an audit ND atomic number 50 either negatively or convinced(p)ly affect the audit outcome. Over the next few pages you will read and detect only when why that Is. The kind of leadership that you have wealth a company sets the tone for the way the company holds Its standards. In a paper prepared for Ernst & three-year-old it states that, One fundamental driver of audit woodland, agreed by all taking part in the discussion, was the need for the people at the top of audit firm to set an appropriate tone and culture, to ensure that the work was carried out conscientiously, ethically, and in line with all appropriate standards and guidelines. Bender) The focussing needs to be healthful examples to their subordinates of how one should ethically behave and perform a quality audit. Management sets the tone and the employees will follow suit.If wariness does not reward or bear positive ethical behavior then neither will the employees. An article called, The Negative Affects of Corporate Culture, (Mack) states that, When managers are unethical, employees will emulate the bad behavior. Employees look to management to show them how they should behave and they will copy what they see, even if it is negative or unethical. If they see managers cutting corners to get wings done faster or to husband money, then employees will do the same which can cause the audit to be insufficient or poorly done.Managers should make sure they are ceaselessly being self-coloured examples of how everyone should behave, even when they think no one is looking, as they set the bar for how employees should behave. Another big building block in the positive firm culture is ethics training and enforcement. Teaching new employees during their nonbinding process the Importance of ethics within the workplace and teaching them about ethics will help to foster a trustworthy work environment. Even though most people know right from ring It Is Important to instill what Is ethically right as well.An article about ethics training In the workplace discusses how having a code of ethics typed out for employees to see helps them to see and empathise what ethics are and how Important they are In the workplace. Also, showing them that there Is impart honest communication and letting them know they can come to management with concerns will help employees feel empowered to work ethically (Lollipops). The a rticle likewise states that, The expense of comprehensive ethics trailing carries the potential to more than return for itself over the long term.Aside from potentially costly lawsuits, (Lollipops). Teaching ethics will only enforce honesty and integrity, which will ultimately help aggroups to perform quality audits. Having strong ethics in your workplace can also allow employees to work with a clear conscience and be more fertile, which makes for a cleanse quality audit. An article that talks about how ethics makes you a better person in the workplace states that, Ethical employees build trust in their workplace relationshipsGaining the trust of your co-workers can enhance your productivity by making it easier for you to communicate and work with there in the workplace (Ingram). Having teammates who all trust one other due to strong ethics makes for a more cohesive team allowing them to work more productively together and helping them to create a quality audit. Another act ivity that causes poor firm culture and effects audit quality is hyper competitiveness. In a firm people work together as a team to perform audits, they have to feel comfort satisfactory going to colleagues and upper management with questions. They need to feel supported by there team and feel the rewards of working as a team. If a company rewards a persons behavior to work towards their own personal goals to get ahead ether than contribute to the work of the entire team, employees may start cutting corners or doing things unethically to get ahead. As an article by Jarred Lewis states, Fierce competition may also result in a win at all costs attitude that may even bring out the worst in most workers (Lewis). This is not good for the quality of the audit. We want everyone on the team to be working together towards the same goal, a quality audit. That is the kind of behavior that should be rewarded. Encouraging competition within the audit workplace can also cause individuals or team s to build rivalries against one another. Having any form of rivalry can cause the, win at all costs attitude but it can also cause people to start hating their Job or hint stressed on the Job. When people are getting stressed at work or start disliking their job then usually their work will start suffering as well.According to an article called, Stress Affects Work Performance of Nearly Half of Employees, it states that, It stress most often leads to difficulty concentrating, absenteeism and poor work quality (Apse, 2013). Having employees that are working on an audit struggle to concentrating and are producing poor work is not in any way going to help with iron outing a quality audit, it will do the opposite of that, it will hinder the audit. Poor discipline has another negative effect on audit firm culture, which also affects the quality of an audit. If employees are caught taking short cuts or cutting corners on audits and are not reprimanded or punished for it then it is only encouraging unethical behavior to continue. If organizations did not have discipline and rules about the way their employees should behave, then quite simply they would be free to do anything they wanted and be able to get away with it targets would not be et, work would not be completed, the workplace would be more like a zoo than a productive environment (Shipwright). It is important that employees not only understand corporate rules and ethics codes but that they are enforced as well and that those that break the codes are train accordingly. If employees are not disciplined then it will only show employees that behaving unethically when performing an audit is k, which would then ruin the quality of the audit. Lack of open communication or employees feeling like they cannot go and talk to corporate culture and conducting a quality audit.According to Gaffing, featured in he Daily Reporter, he states that, The rewards of honest communication in the workplace are not Just esoteric . Honesty can actually help reduce work-related stress (BROWN, 2005). We already rundle about how beneficial unstressed employees are in the workplace but think about the amount of unethical situations that can be stopped when employees feel safe going to management and discussing such issues. Having open and honest communication in the workplace will help to stop unethical behavior in their tracks, which will also increase the quality of the audit.Arthur Anderson is a great example of how corporate culture can cause a firm to not reform quality audits, which also led to their demise. One of the problems with Arthur Andersens culture was the, Inability to question superiors practices and incapability to suggest new ways of doing things in all areas of the firm (mapped). Just like we were talking about in the previous paragraph, the firm lacked open and honest communication allowing unethical behavior to fester and flourish. This hindered the firms ability to perform quality audit s.They also lacked an ethically strong management to be an example to employees. The root of the problem was top management figures who exemplified poor ethical practices (mapped). Clearly Arthur Anderson lacked a strong ethical and honest firm culture and it started at the top with its management. This enabled them from being able to perform quality audits, Enron was a shining example of how their audits were unsatisfactory, and most by all odds lost the publics trust in them. Audit firm culture is very important in performing a quality audit. As small business tarradiddle states, Companies with cultures valuing the highest standards create an atmosphere for workers to deliver products that meet those high standards (Cleaner). When it comes to management, Ewing a good example, setting the appropriate tone, and ethical standards expected, is important. From ethics training, to teaching the importance of ethics to employees, along with proper discipline, and open and honest communi cation, all of these things are important in creating a strong and positive corporate culture.

Comparing Islamic Religion

To compargon the Muslim religion, sensation has to first define Islam. The word Islam means surrender or sub perpetration to the go out of all(a)ah, the one God(Webster). The word Islam conveys much meaning, especi on the wholey those of submission and peace. It is with the total submission to the will of God, to a fault known as Allah, that one achieves peace with oneself, peace with the Creator, as swell up as peace with all creations. Muslims are believers who have submitted themselves to the will of God. The basic creed of Islam is the shahada.Shahada is the profession of faith I testify that in that respect is no deity save God and that Muhammad is the messenger of God(Schimmel 34). I study Buddhism. Buddhism is the name attributed to an obscure system of beliefs developed around the teachings of a single man known as the Buddha. Buddha is the title condition to the Indian philosopher Gautama circa 2,500 years ago. Buddhism is a Western word. The religion is known in the E ast as the Buddha-Dharma, or the teachings of the Buddha(Maitreya 1). Buddhists share similar beliefs about the nature of the world and how to behave within it based on the teachings of the Buddha.Islam comes from the communicate of Muhammad. Buddhism is based on the Buddhas personal experience of enlightenment. Thus, Muhammad is a divinely inspired teacher who preached the speech of Gods will, whereas the Buddha shared his understanding of the delegacy to attain enlightenment. Neither religion worships the tellers of the truth i. e. Muhammad and the Buddha. Instead, some(prenominal) religions recognize and appreciate the magnificent contribution both men have made as well as utilize the doctrines that summarize their school of thought-the Koran and the quatern Noble Truths. The foundation of Islam is the Koran which is, for the devotional Muslim, not the word of a prophet but the unadulterated word of God, which has become audible through Muhammad, the pure vessel, in clear Ar abic language(Schimmel 29). The main emphasis of the Koran is the oneness of Allah. All of humanity is regarded as subject to the will and power of Allah. It is He who has created mankind, and will one-day judge his creation. The faithful are called upon to believe in Allah and to listen to His Prophet and will be saved on Judgement Day. The Four Noble Truths are the briefest synthesis of the entire teachings of Buddhism (Maitreya 3).The first truth is that all life is unpleasant suffering, pain, and misery. The chip truth is that this suffering is caused by narcissistic craving and passionate personal desire. The third truth is that this selfish craving can be overcome. The fourth truth is that the way to overcome the misery of life is by following the Eightfold Path. The Eightfold Path promotes sight and wisdom that will allow for inner peace, and in the end enlightenment. The Korans principal assertion is that there is one Godthe creator and sustainer of the universe. This God , Allah, is benevolent and vindicatory.Because He is compassionate, He calls all heap to believe in Him and worship Him(Ali 6). Buddhism does not teach of gods. Instead, Buddhism teaches the way of life that Buddha comprehended-the Eightfold Path. The Koran declares that all of humanity is subject to the will and power of Allah. It is a unsounded Islamic belief that we were created to serve (worship) Allah(Ali 2). Islam religion regards mankind as the crown of creation, entrusted by God with focusing of the whole-created order. Humans can be weak and are susceptible to disbelief in God and to noncompliance to His will.Humanitys weakness is pride. Humans do not realize their limitations and believe they are self-sufficient. It is the nation who are deluded by Satan that continued to disbelieve in Allah. Similarly, the Four Noble Truths proclaim that people make a mistake of being excessively egotistical. Analogously, Buddhism confirms that people error by identifying too power fully with personal existence in any one life. Unlike Muslims, who consider themselves committed to a mission by their belief in Allah, Buddhist aspires to escape from the sufferings of life. These two goals of life are vastly different. Muslims will always see themselves reflected in the eyes of God whereas Buddhists will never see a God, scarce their life as a cycle of rebirths until the release called Nirvana. The Islamic religion is an extensive, multidimensional, and complex topic just as Buddhism is. I acknowledge that I am neither an expert of the religion nor a unearthly scholar, yet. I am solely making a brief comparison between Islam with my own personal convictions and understandings of Buddhism.
